- പഴയ പേര്: രാമനാട്ടുകര പണ്ട് അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നത് 'കടുങ്ങാൻ ചിറ' എന്ന പേരിലായിരുന്നു.
- പരപ്പനാട് സ്വരൂപം: മധ്യകാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ ചാലിയാർ പുഴയുടെ തെക്കേ തീരത്തുള്ള രാമനാട്ടുകര, പരപ്പനാട് രാജകുടുംബത്തിന്റെ സ്വാധീനമേഖലയിലായിരുന്നു. സാമൂതിരിപ്പാടിന്റെ സാമന്തന്മാരായിരുന്നു ഇവർ. പതിനഞ്ചാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിൽ പരപ്പനാട് സ്വരൂപം വടക്കൻ പരപ്പനാട് (ബേപ്പൂർ സ്വരൂപം), തെക്കൻ പരപ്പനാട് (പരപ്പൂർ സ്വരൂപം) എന്നിങ്ങനെ രണ്ടായി വിഭജിക്കപ്പെട്ടപ്പോൾ, രാമനാട്ടുകര ഇതിന്റെ അതിർത്തി പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നായി മാറി.
- മൈസൂർ ഭരണവും ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് മലബാറും: പതിനെട്ടാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ അവസാനത്തിൽ മൈസൂർ രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായിരുന്ന രാമനാട്ടുകര, ശ്രീരംഗപട്ടണം ഉടമ്പടിക്ക് ശേഷം ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് മലബാറിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി. അക്കാലത്ത് മഞ്ചേരി ആസ്ഥാനമായുള്ള ഏറനാട് താലൂക്കിലായിരുന്നു ഇത് ഉൾപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നത്.
- ഭരണമാറ്റം (1969): 1969 ജൂൺ 16-ന് മലപ്പുറം ജില്ല രൂപീകരിച്ചപ്പോൾ, തിരൂർ താലൂക്കിലെ മറ്റ് പ്രദേശങ്ങൾ മലപ്പുറത്തേക്ക് മാറ്റപ്പെട്ടെങ്കിലും, കോഴിക്കോട് നഗരത്തോടുള്ള ഭൂമിശാസ്ത്രപരമായ അടുപ്പം പരിഗണിച്ച് രാമനാട്ടുകര, ഫറോക്ക്, കടലുണ്ടി എന്നീ വില്ലേജുകൾ മാത്രം കോഴിക്കോട് ജില്ലയിൽത്തന്നെ നിലനിർത്താൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചു.

Ramanattukara is a prominent municipality and a major suburb located in the Kozhikode district of Kerala, situated about 16 km south of Kozhikode city.
History
- Ancient Name: In the past, the town of Ramanattukara was known as "Kadungan Chira."
- The Parappanad Connection: During the medieval era, Ramanattukara — lying on the southern bank of the Chaliyar River — was adjacent to the Kingdom of Parappanad. The rulers of Parappanad were vassals to the Zamorins of Calicut. In the 15th century, the kingdom was split into Northern Parappanad (Beypore Swaroopam) and Southern Parappanad (Parappur Swaroopam), placing Ramanattukara right at the heart of these geopolitical shifts.
- The Mysore and British Eras: After being briefly under the Kingdom of Mysore in the late 18th century, Ramanattukara was ceded to the British East India Company following the Treaty of Seringapatam (1792) at the end of the Third Anglo-Mysore War. Under the British Raj, it became a part of the Eranad Taluk of the Malabar District, with its headquarters in Manjeri.
- The 1969 Border Realignment: Following the formation of Kerala in 1956, Ramanattukara initially became part of Tirur Taluk. On June 16, 1969, when the Malappuram district was carved out, most of the surrounding regions were transferred to the new district. However, owing to their close proximity to Kozhikode city, three revenue villages — Ramanattukara, Feroke, and Kadalundi — were retained in the Kozhikode district.
